The modernization of the gas purification system has been completed in Workshop No. 9 of UKTMK JSC. The project was implemented as part of the Plant's Development Program for 2023-2033 and has become an important step in improving environmental safety and production efficiency.
Ecology today is not an abstract concept, but a specific production task. Therefore, gas purification has been identified as one of the priorities of UKTMK's long-term development strategy. The development program for 2023-2033 provides for a phased upgrade of key equipment, the introduction of energy-saving technologies and a reduction in environmental impact.
In workshop No. 9, modernization has become a logical continuation of this strategy. The previous system had long since exhausted its resource, and its maintenance required heavy manual labor: regular cleaning of collectors, filters and spray nozzles for irrigation. These jobs were performed twice a month and took several hours each. On the new scrubber system, such labor-intensive operations are not required in the same volume, so the apparatchiks can devote more time to the technological process.
– The main result of the modernization is a significant increase in the efficiency of gas purification and a noticeable reduction in the negative impact on the environment. The system works stably and reliably, thanks to this, the staff is less distracted by maintenance and can fully focus on the technological process," said Aybek Ragyzbayev, Senior master technologist at workshop No. 9.
The main difference of the new system is the three stages of rings (attachment elements) inside the housing. The polluted gases are fed at an angle, spiral and actively interact with the working solution. This ensures a cleaning efficiency of at least 95%. For comparison, on the previous installation, the indicator was about 92%.
Another important result is energy saving. The new equipment includes two pumps: one is working, the other is in reserve. The power consumption of the pumping unit is 35 kW (one pump is in operation, the second is a backup), whereas the old system used units with a capacity of 75 kW. The energy savings are about 50%.
The installation is digitally controlled: the recorder displays the irrigation pressure, gas temperature, gas volume, and dilution before and after the purification stages in real time. This allows you to precisely control the process and prevent deviations from the standards.
The equipment supplier was the German company TREMA Verfahrenstechnik GmbH, specializing in the development and manufacture of gas purification, dust extraction and industrial ventilation systems. The company's specialist conducted supervision, commissioning and staff training. In the future, similar solutions will be implemented in other areas: it is planned to replace the next scrubber system with equipment of the ZK 280-3 type (at the fifth gas treatment plant).
According to the passport documentation, the service life of the new equipment is 20 years. Modernization of gas purification is a contribution of UKTMK JSC to environmental protection, taking care of the health of employees and residents of the region, as well as to the formation of a culture of responsible production.
