At UKTMK, chess has long been more than just a game. This is a tradition that unites generations of the Plant's employees, developing attention, strategic thinking and decision-making skills. This year, intellectual sports once again became the focus of two events at once – a tournament within the framework of the Spartakiad and competitions dedicated to the memory of Murat Baibekov.
The first stage was the chess tournament of the Spartakiad, which brought together enthusiastic and motivated employees of the company. For many participants, chess is not only a hobby, but also an opportunity to test themselves in an honest and intense struggle.
The atmosphere of concentration and excitement reigned in the cozy hall. The only sounds were the clicking of clocks and the soft clatter of figures. On their faces – tension, confidence, the desire to calculate the situation several moves ahead. The tournament became an arena for intelligence and willpower, where endurance and calculation were crucial.
Among the participants are representatives of various departments. Engineers, craftsmen, technologists and mechanics met for one batch. They are all equal in the main thing: the ability to think strategically and make decisions. These qualities are equally important both in production and at the chessboard.
After several hard-fought rounds, the team of workshop No. 3 won the team competition, demonstrating accuracy, concentration and excellent cooperation.
The second place was taken by the team of workshops No. 7, 8, OMK and UKK, which confidently held its place among the leaders.
The bronze medalists were representatives of the national team of workshops No. 6, 9 and 22, who showed perseverance and team spirit.
– Thanks to the persistent struggle with the strongest representatives of the Plant, we managed to take the honorable third place. The tournament was held at the highest level: excellent organization, professional refereeing," Matvey Stepanov, a member of the joint team of workshops No. 6, 9 and 22, shared his impressions.
The participants highly appreciated the organization of the competition and expressed gratitude to the management of UKTMK JSC and the trade union committee for their support of sports initiatives.
Such competitions help employees not only take a break from everyday work, but also develop the qualities necessary in the profession: concentration, attention, strategic thinking and the ability to make decisions under time pressure.
The relay race of intellectual competitions was continued by a traditional tournament dedicated to the memory of Murat Baybekov, a man for whom sports, teamwork and the pursuit of development were an important part of life. UKTMK's House of Culture brought together not only employees of the company, but also young chess players: schoolchildren from 12 to 14 years old, residents of the village of Novaya Sogra and chess lovers from all over Ust-Kamenogorsk.
The Murat Baibekov memorial tournament became not just a competition, but a warm reminder of the man who left a vivid mark in the history of the Plant. Chess has once again proved that it is a sport that unites generations and inspires development.
