Murat Mautov's path to the profession began, like many others, from a student's bench. He studied at the college of the East Kazakhstan State Technical University with a degree in Non-ferrous Metallurgy of Metals. Before the third year, I studied full-time, and after that I decided to switch to practice, I will transfer to a correspondence course.
– I found out that UKTMK is recruiting employees. I sent my resume, and I was accepted," our hero recalls.
So, while still a student, he started working as a furnace engineer in workshop No. 3, and in 2013, after receiving his diploma, he tried himself as a crane operator.
– I was very interested in working as a crane operator, and I decided to learn this difficult business. He completed an internship, and then became a substitute crane operator – he replaced those who went on vacation. So, gradually I found my place in the shift," Murat said.
Murat Mautov remembers the date of his first working day as if it were yesterday – August 10, 2011.
– To be honest, at first I was literally stunned, as if I had entered another world, the world of metallurgy. It's not at all the same as what you can imagine sitting on a student's bench," Murat admits. But the support of the team, a good mentor and the desire for growth did their job. That's how our hero managed to integrate into the workflow.
Now he is absolutely sure that he made the right choice when he came to work at the Plant.
– Our company produces metal that is used all over the world in a wide variety of industries. It is certainly inspiring and motivating," our interlocutor added.
Murat noted that what he values most in his profession is stability, prestige, good working conditions and interest in the process itself. But at the same time, he says, it is important to understand the seriousness and danger of such production.
– It's not an easy job. You have to be extremely careful. One wrong move and you can not only damage metal or machinery, but harm a person. My colleagues' lives are literally in my hands. The main qualities of a crane operator are responsibility, discipline and professionalism.

Physiologist, athlete, leader
Since 2021, Murat has become the physical education organizer of workshop No. 3. His love for sports began in his school years – from the first grade he played football and still participates in city and regional championships, where he often takes prizes.
– It's interesting to be a physicist. This is an opportunity to bring the team together, to introduce people from different workshops. The fight for prizes at the Spartakiads is always gambling and persistent! – our hero tells us.
The search for participants, registration of applications, coordination with medical professionals is a routine but important part of his duties. Murat already knows exactly who to send and what kind of sport.
– It is already clear who is good at what. I especially try to attract newcomers – it helps them to join the team faster," Murat Mautov explained.
Philosophy of work
Speaking about what a person working at a factory should be like, Murat repeatedly returns to key concepts: discipline, diligence, and interest in the profession.
– Here you need to grow, learn from experienced colleagues, and be part of a team. This is a job for those who know how not to give up," he says.
And an experienced crane operator advises novice workers to work hard, take care of their health and try to become real professionals! And most importantly, it is important to respect the work of both your own and your colleagues.
Murat Mautov is one of those who not only found his place in production, but also became an example for others. His story is the story of a man who respects work, appreciates the people around him, and puts not only his strength but also his soul into his work every day.
