For the love of chemistry
For the love of chemistry

True dedication and high professionalism distinguish all employees of TMK Management Company. It is thanks to the daily efforts and sincere love of each employee for his specialty that the Plant continues to be one of the leading metallurgical enterprises in the world from year to year.

Zarina Asylbekova, the head of the UKTMK testing laboratory, who has been working at the Plant for 17 years and never ceases to enjoy all the sometimes difficult tasks that her profession poses to her on a daily basis, is an example of true loyalty to her chosen career path. On the eve of Chemist's Day, which is traditionally celebrated on the last Sunday in May, we talked with Zarina Asylbekova and found out why she remains loyal to UKTMK and even after many years retains her love for her work.

  An informed choice

Our heroine received her education as a chemist at the S. Amanzholov Higher School of Economics and even worked as a chemistry teacher for a short time after graduation. But she quickly realized that pedagogy was not at all what she seriously wanted to do.

  - I chose chemistry in high school. Participated in many Olympiads. The teacher saw my interest and always prepared me for competitions. In general, I do not have a penchant for creative pursuits, I like natural sciences. This is the reason for my choice of profession. That's why, after working as a teacher for some time, I decided to submit my resume to the industrial enterprises of the city anyway. In July 2008, I was hired as a laboratory assistant at UKTMK. I've been here ever since," said Zarina Asylbekova.       According to her, despite the fact that she had an internship at Kazzinka and large-scale production was not something completely unfamiliar to her, when she first came to the Plant, she still felt awe. Senior colleagues helped to cope with the excitement and get used to the new conditions.

  - When I was in the laboratory for the first time, I felt fear. I was wondering if I could meet expectations and master all the processes. I had a very good mentor, Lyubov Dmitrievna Grigorieva, the head of the department. She taught me everything. Other colleagues also helped. Although at some point I had the idea to change my profession. I even started studying in another specialty. But Lyubov Dmitrieva dissuaded me, and later I realized that chemistry is really my thing," shared Zarina Asylbekova.

Career, character, favorite team   Our heroine worked as a laboratory assistant until 2010. Then she moved to the position of laboratory engineer, and three years later she received an offer to head it.

    - I was convinced that I could handle all the tasks. And I've been in charge for 12 years now. My responsibilities include general management, preparation for audits, and development of documentation in accordance with standards. Inspection and control of sites, conducting internal audits at sites, each of which has its own specifics of work. I am currently working with the great support of my colleagues, and together we maintain a high level of work in the laboratory. We have a strong team, we try to help each other," our heroine explained.

Zarina Asylbekova advises young employees to study and listen to the older generation, not to be afraid to ask questions. She sincerely believes that you don't need to know and be able to do everything right away, you need to be able to ask more experienced colleagues in time about what you don't understand. And try to delve deeper into the subject yourself, and then everything will come with experience.

  - We face difficulties in the laboratory almost daily. But it strengthens me, gives me an essential experience and knowledge," says Zarina Asylbekova.   Our heroine noted that during her time at the Plant she had learned to set priorities, be disciplined and organize her time.

Together even at leisure     The staff of the testing laboratory at UKTMK is very friendly, colleagues like to spend time with each other even in a non-working environment.

  - We gather and communicate in our free time. We definitely go out to nature together a couple of times a year. Before Chemist's Day, we traditionally gather together on Friday and congratulate each other.   According to her, the hard work of chemists requires not only deep knowledge, but also responsibility and dedication. You need to really love your work, this is the only way to achieve high results in the laboratory.

  - My colleagues and I all love what we do. Thanks to our hard work and experience, the laboratory remains a reliable pillar of production processes at the Plant. Each of us makes an important contribution to the common cause, and I am proud to work with such a strong team! "And I sincerely congratulate my colleagues on our holiday!" said Zarina Asylbekova.   And in the anniversary year for the Plant, our heroine wishes every UKTMK employee professional growth and personal happiness and hopes that our joint work will continue to bring satisfaction, achieve goals, inspire and make us proud of the results achieved!
