Not everyone's path to the profession has been determined from school and verified with pharmacy precision. It often consists of accidents, lucky coincidences, luck and, of course, a great desire to move forward. This is how the story of Zhazylbek Dulatovich Tuktieyev, acting head of workshop No. 3, developed.
Our hero's youth was spent in the Urjar district, far from the hustle and bustle of the city. And when it came time to choose his future profession, he had no idea where this choice would lead him.
– I studied in the village, then there was no Internet, there was no access to information. I knew that I wanted to get a technical education, but I had absolutely no idea what metallurgists were doing specifically," said Zhazylbek Tuktiev.
All steps of the career ladder
After graduating from the university, Zhazylbek Tuktiev received an invitation to Ust-Kamenogorsk, a city that was unfamiliar and alien. No friends, no family, no support. The young specialist carefully studied the vacancies at metallurgical enterprises and submitted a resume to the Ust-Kamenogorsk Titanium and Magnesium Combine. Three weeks later, he was invited for an interview at workshop No. 3, and in October 2010, he began working as a titanium sponge stripper.
– It was hard, it was a completely strange city, everything was unfamiliar. All my friends stayed in Almaty, and I thought I couldn't stand it and would return to the city where I spent my student years. But it was then that fate took another unexpected turn, I met my future wife," recalls Zhazylbek Dulatovich. "She got a job in the third workshop just a week before me, she worked as a titanium sponge sorter and that's how we met.
Love, as often happens, turned out to be the anchor that helped to cope with loneliness. A year later, the young couple got married, and life in Ust-Kamenogorsk gained a new meaning, there was an incentive to develop in the profession, to reach new heights.
The result was not long in coming. Six months later, Zhazylbek received the 4th grade, passed the exams in the summer of 2011 and received the right to engage in engineering and technical work. Since 2012, he began to replace the masters, and in January 2017 he became acting master. A year later, he became a master. In 2020, he became a senior master technologist, and from 2022, a senior master. Since July 2023, he has been acting as the head of shop No. 3, having overcome all the way from a simple worker to the head of one of the main production units of the Combine.
– Each stage has taught something new, given new perspectives and understanding of the processes. It was an honest, hard-working growth," our interlocutor notes.
Mentoring as the basis of professionalism
– I was taught by strong masters. Asset Seiputanov is my first mentor, who gave me a base. Then Rinat Amirov, who was already a master and passed on his experience to me. And when I became a senior master technologist, Askhat Dzhambulov, who now works as the head of shop No. 14, taught me a lot. These people shaped me as a specialist, and I am very grateful to them," says Zhazylbek Tuktiev.
Over the years, our hero has become a mentor for many young professionals. Passing on knowledge to novice employees, explaining the intricacies of technological processes, and sharing experiences is not just a duty for him, but a real duty. This approach has allowed us to prepare a strong team where everyone knows what to do and how to do it.
– I have always understood that it is necessary to transfer knowledge and experience to my subordinates. If you don't show them today, teach them, then tomorrow your man will not be able to cope with the task. What if you're on vacation? On a business trip? The manager must be sure that the work will not stop, and everything will be done flawlessly. Therefore, I basically showed, explained, and taught everything," Zhazylbek Dulatovich shared.
– When I became a senior master technologist, I had a clear understanding: it was necessary to change the equipment. In 2023, we installed an experimental crusher. And literally immediately we saw the result – the quality and productivity doubled, the fraction became correct, the scattering decreased, the marriage went away. Today, this crusher is working stably, and by the end of the year we plan to launch a full-fledged complex of such crushers. It will be a whole technological flow that will produce a finished product at the exit," explained the head of the workshop.
Fishing and airsoft
Despite the busy work schedule and huge responsibility, the young leader tries to find time for hobbies. His hobbies include airsoft and fishing. Zhazylbek Tuktiev regularly participates in Sunday airsoft games, and trips to the Irtysh or Bukhtarma with friends have become a good tradition. Night fishing, ear made from freshly caught pike, is what helps to restore strength and "reboot".
He does not forget about the sports life of the Combine. He actively participated in sports contests in the ITT team, played football and basketball. Today, when the team of workshop No. 3 performs in a combined team, the team has been taking the first places for the second year in a row.
High reward for honest work
In June 2025, Zhazylbek Tuktiev was awarded the Order of "Enbek Danky" of the III degree. The presentation of the high state award took place at a solemn event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of UKTMK JSC.
– I was shocked, I immediately shared the news with all my relatives - everyone congratulated me. It's a great pride for me," our hero shared his emotions.
The Order of "Enbek Danky" is not just a sign of recognition. It is a symbol of the fact that professionalism and honest work do not go unnoticed. According to our hero, this is the only way to achieve positive results in work and in life.
–Work, try, and work again," he advises young professionals. – There are difficult moments, it's normal. The main thing is to treat the profession with respect and do your job in good faith, and then everything will work out!
The story of Zhazylbek Tuktiev himself proves that such a respectful and conscious attitude to the profession, to his native enterprise, bears fruit. He is sure that high goals fill life with meaning, and real happiness is to see the result of his daily painstaking work.
