Step into the future: the office of a young metallurgist

The future of any enterprise is laid long before the beginning of its production history. It begins in school classes – with an interest in the profession, first knowledge and a conscious choice of a life path. The grand opening of the metallurgist's office at school No. 23 named after Mukhamet Shayakhmetov was just such a step towards the future.

President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has marked 2025 as the Year of Working Professions, a time when special attention is paid to people of work, those who develop the country's industrial potential. Metallurgists have rightfully become a symbol of this year, embodying the creative work that supports the development of the titanium industry and the country's economy. After all, at the heart of any progress is man and his daily, responsible work. The opening of a career guidance office is a logical continuation of the initiative and an important contribution to the formation of respect for working professions among the younger generation.

The new office of the young metallurgist is a modern educational space equipped with visual equipment for the educational process. The project was implemented with the support of the management of UKTMK JSC and in close cooperation with the school. Thanks to the well-coordinated joint work of specialists and the teaching staff, it was possible to create a functional, modern and comfortable classroom that fully meets the current requirements and tasks of specialized education. The class presents various materials used in production, samples of raw materials and products, as well as elements that allow students to better understand the technological processes of the industry.

   – The opening of the Young Metallurgist career guidance office became possible thanks to the support of UKTMK JSC. We sincerely thank you for your contribution to the development and support of the younger generation. The modern equipment of the classroom, interactive materials and practical orientation of classes will allow students to become more familiar with the professions of metallurgical production. I am sure that Young Metallurgist will become an effective platform for discovering talents, forming a sustained interest in technical specialties and making an informed choice of a future profession," says Nurgul Tarina, director of school No. 23.

Here, theory is not divorced from reality. The study opens up the opportunity not to limit oneself to knowledge from textbooks, but to see metallurgy from the inside and understand it in practice as a modern, complex and in-demand industry. This format of education helps students to form a holistic view of the profession and its significance.

The opening ceremony of the cabinet was attended by representatives of the Department of Education, higher education institutions and colleges of the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk. This highlighted the special significance of the event and the importance of interaction between the school, the vocational education system and industrial enterprises. It is this continuity that allows us to build a conscious path from school to choosing a profession and further professional trajectory in metallurgy.

A special atmosphere was created by an ensemble of folk instruments, which provided musical accompaniment to the event and filled it with lively energy and color. The culmination of the celebration was the ceremonial cutting of the blue ribbon, symbolizing the official opening of the metallurgist's office.

The main task of the new class is to nurture future employees of the Plant, to form an interest in metallurgy and to show students the prospects for professional growth in the industry. It is here that children have the opportunity to think about choosing a profession related to real production and creative work.

The formation of human resources begins with such initiatives: with the creation of conditions in which the profession becomes understandable, familiar and attractive. The young metallurgist's office is a contribution to the future of the Plant, to the preservation of traditions, continuity of generations and the development of the industry.
